Open Your Heart Chakra

IMG_8276.JPG

One of my favorite things about the heart chakra is that it is the center of joy.  How amazing is it that the energy center of compassion, empathy, love for self and others is the same place where joy lives?  I gravitate towards teaching because it genuinely makes me joyful to help others.  I believe there is a part in all of us that enjoys bringing a smile to someone else's face. The best part of me believes that our natural state is inclusivity. While exclusion may give us a feeling of temporary importance, we thrive when we create a space where we acknowledge all voices.  When we start to practice self care, realizing how much we need love and inclusion, it is obvious the extent to which others need the same.

My yoga practice taught me how to heal myself.  More than putting a makeshift bandage over wounds, it taught me to address deeply embedded hurt and properly care for myself so I can care for others.  This sequence opens up the heart space and allowing the mind and body to feel and heal.

Did thoughts and feelings and sensations come up for you?  FANTASTIC! That is the entire point. When we shake things up, we get to see the debris that has settled to the bottom.  The act of shaking up gives us the opportunity to examine what is happening deep below the surface.
